Swim Lessons have started!

What I thought would be a few weeks of tears has turned into a party in the water. Colin and Sophia love the water and their teacher, and in Week 2, are starting to get the hang of it....

It's been awhile...

So, it's been over a year since I've posted anything... lame I know. However, better late than never. Today was Sophia's 2nd ballet recital, and she did quite well (at least better than her dad did with the below video).

On the beach....

A very good friend of mine visited this weekend, and we all went to the beach. Thanks for visiting Uncle Mike (and for taking this picture).

Santa arrived early

We visited Santa early this year, courtesy of my parent's tennis club. Santa was quite a success, and was of the 'gentle old Saint Nick' variety, as opposed to the flashy, loud scary variety that cause many a child to wet their pants in fear. Santa gave the kids two instruments which coincidentally were what Granny Pat and Ingo thought were good presents. As you can see below, the kids thought they were great too.

Labor Day Getaway

We headed to the wine country of Northern California to get away for the long weekend. We, along with several families, rented a house in tiny Pope Valley which is close to Napa Valley. The house, weather and company was great, and there was lots of fun to be had at the pool.

If you look closely, there's some small legs peeking out of the towel. Colie had a full day of pool action, and passed out in my arms.

First Day of School

It just seems too early to put this entry in. Didn't I just come back from China with the most beautiful 1 year old? How can 2 years and 3 months have gone so quickly? Sophia has been very excited about going to school, and was thrilled about her cubby to put her backpack in.

It was a year ago today that I held you in my arms for the first time.

Small Town, USA

I can't believe that its been a year since I boarded a plane for Hong Kong to bring our daughter home from China. I especially can't believe the changes that have happened in a short 12 months.

Our little town had their annual firefighter's pancake breakfast followed by the Memorial Day parade. Both kids did amazingly well considering we were sitting around for several hours.

We also went to a local picnic that has live music and food, and was quite festive. Sophie wore her Hawaiian dress that she finally grew into (thanks Alison and Charlie), and was bopping to the music most of the day. Colin did well, but needed a nap as you can see.

Been a while....

Wow, where did the year go? How has it been 7+ months since the life changing event(s)? How'd this little boy look so good in a track suit (j-lo, eat your heart out)?

Big Boy

It's sometimes hard to see the growth/development on a day to day and then they do something unanticipated. Colin decided he wanted to feed himself.

Ghosts & Goblins

What a scary night! First a killer bee flew in our window...

Then a little devil took over the TV (apparently Baby Einstein is quite popular on the other side of the river Styx).

Long time no post

Dang, this parenting/working/living balance isn't as easy as I thought. It's been way long since I posted something. I don't have my writing cap on (see earlier post for picture), but thought I'd at least post Sophia on the swing this past weekend. Cute hat, eh?

Fun without Daddy

So even when I work for a great company in a great job, with the greatest boss, work can still suck.

How can this be? Why, the several roadtrips that have occurred without Daddy because Daddy's at work, that's how. Curses!

First there was fun in the fog at Pt. Reyes

Then there was a trip to the Wine Country in Napa

And finally some sandy excitement at Stinson Beach

A little get together

We had a mini reunion of some families that Sophia and I traveled with in China. We had great weather, great food, and a great time. Sophia had decided to go for a little moviestar look prior to the gathering.

Hang time

The girls took the kids for a playdate, which allowed me to do a little playing myself. It was the first time I took to the air since last October, so I felt a bit nervous heading up the hill. But what a beautiful day! I arrived a little late at Ed Levin, and the wind was getting choppy so I only got one flight in. That one flight felt mighty good though.

See-saw

I'm trying to make the most of my time with the Peach since I usually leave for work before she gets up. After assembling a little scooter for her this evening, our little game of "see-saw" kicked up a notch. Christi was laughing as hard as she was. Please no flaming about her head wobbling around... it's just poor video quality.
