Life is about to radically change...
Within the next three months, I will find myself on a plane, traveling to China to pick up our child. I'm elated and nervous at the same time. How did this all start?

Posted by: Sunny at April 10, 2004 09:05 PMWe knew we were interested in adoption before we got married, more specifically international adoption since demand far outstrips supply on domestic (US) adoption.
When we started the process, we looked at three areas, China, Guatemala, and former eastern bloc countries. We marked off the eastern bloc as we had heard of too many health issues. China was a pretty easy choice for a couple of reasons. One, we live in the San Francisco Bay Area, so it's a place conducive & very tolerant to having an adopted Asian child. Two, I speak Mandarin, sort of, and understand Chinese culture more than Guatemala or Latin America in general.
