So it might as well start here

Life is about to radically change...

Within the next three months, I will find myself on a plane, traveling to China to pick up our child. I'm elated and nervous at the same time. How did this all start?

Be interested to read what happens to you in China, pal. This is one big adventure...

I found your blog through 3q2u's recent entry. Congratulations on the new baby. I haven't read any of your stuff so I'm guessing you already explained why but I like being redundant so why adopt from China?

P.S. Thank you for reading my blog. I hope it didn't make you insane. :)

We knew we were interested in adoption before we got married, more specifically international adoption since demand far outstrips supply on domestic (US) adoption.

When we started the process, we looked at three areas, China, Guatemala, and former eastern bloc countries. We marked off the eastern bloc as we had heard of too many health issues. China was a pretty easy choice for a couple of reasons. One, we live in the San Francisco Bay Area, so it's a place conducive & very tolerant to having an adopted Asian child. Two, I speak Mandarin, sort of, and understand Chinese culture more than Guatemala or Latin America in general.

Chris

ps. Your blog is great. I find your entries refreshingly honest, and in the process very entertaining as well. Sounds like you'll have to somehow password protect it from Angel though ;-)

I'm trying. But my techie skills are not up to par with the challenge. Someday... For now, the threat of serious bodily injury is doing the trick. That and being grounded for life. Hehehehe...
