Life changes, yet remains the same

Things change. We were coming back from a great dinner at Michael & Ying's... a group of us started a dinner club that meets about every other month. As we exited at Mill Valley, I glanced at the clock, "9:45pm."

If this had been two months ago, we would have headed to the Sweetwater to have a few drinks and check out some live music. If the music wasn't what we wanted, we'd double back to the 2AM Club, or The Deuce, as it's fondly referred to by locals. "A Jaegermeister for you, my sweet?"

Alas, it was not to be. There were two sleeping (and snoring) kids in the back of the car that needed to be tucked into bed. And from what people tell me, it's against the law to leave small children unattended (to which my response is, "well, allow 'em in the bars then, for god's sake.").

So, kids are in bed... and the little lightbulb in my head blinks/fizzles. I dash upstairs, pop open a Boont, and throw American Pie II (the unrated version, no less) into the DVD player. Thank you Netflix. So while we may not hit the nightspots like we used to, I can still truly appreciate an adolescent-humor filled movie with a little liquid encouragement. Life does change, but some things remain the same.
