Uncle Andrew and Colie
Pops and Colie
Because it gives you the cred to wear a really friggin' cute aran took. Colie says, "Thank you Uncle Andrew, Aunt Fiona, and Cousin Eve!"
A boring little video of the Peach playing that only would interest a father (maybe a mother too). Thanks to Matt and Nancy R. for the walker which she absolutely loves.
on posting the last few days. Family is coming into town and I've been dealing with the "deck follies"... my attempt to resurface our outside deck. In short, it has not gone well.
We stopped by Christi's place of employment yesterday to show off babies. Colie slept through it which was a good thing. Sophie put on a good show, lots of smiles and interaction.
Looking forward to having family and family friends in this weekend, which, by the way, is my last weekend before I go back to work. I think it's going to be a difficult transition. I'm so used to seeing the kids 24/7. On Monday, I will be leaving before Soph is up, and will be home about an hour and a half before she goes to bed. On the other hand, I have missed my work, and especially my colleagues.
Colie is starting to do social smiles, which is kind of cute.
We had to take our newest car in this week for its first servicing in Petaluma, which is about 40 minutes from where we live. We headed into the quaint historic district for a little American lunch fare, aka burgers and wings...mmmmmm.
During lunch, Colie had an eruption to which Christi said, "Don't worry, it's never as bad as it sounds." She finished her sentence, and I looked down to see total grossness all over my hand, shorts and floor. Little Colie had his first public blowout, and I ended up walking around Petaluma looking like I soiled myself.
Below, Emma felt the need to drive:
So we haven't done any birth/family announcements yet (bad parents), so we did a little home photo shoot. I like this one:

I can be somewhat obsessive compulsive. Example: I was trying to find extra space in our freezer the other night, and discovered that 20lbs of pork ribs were taking up a lot of space. I defrosted them that night, spiced them up, and smoked them for 5 hours the next day. It was a tasty treat (especially with the beer pictured below), but I think this household will be "ribbed-out" when we get to the 16th pound.
Schedules, schedules, schedules....
First there was the swimsuit fashion shoot...
Then the swimming exercise class...
There was nothing left to do but nap in Granny's lap...
So Peach and I went to the hang-gliding shop so I could get my reserve chute repacked (aka insurance). The owner, Pat, had a Peach-sized hg harness so we put it on and strapped her into the simulator. Looks like she's ready to launch!
Hoo-boy.... we've been so lucky with the kids' dispositions that it was a shock when Peach had her first REAL meltdown. She was absolutely inconsolable. My guess is that it's a few new teeth coming in, but who knows. She was quite the terror. However, we gave her a bath with some lavender bubble bath, and she chilled enough to go to bed. Sweet dreams, Peach.... please!
I gave Colie his first bottle yesterday, and he dug it as much as I did.
....needs a good nap to follow it.
We visited friends at my workplace today. The kids were centerstage, we were the supporting cast... and it was really fun. No meltdowns which was a relief, but little Colie needed a big nap, and the Peach celebrated with a big bottle of milk.
Christi & I were very pleased to have Kate back for the rest of the summer. An extra pair of hands is really going to be helpful. However, Emma appears to be the happiest about her return. Welcome back Kate.
Apologies as I've been neglecting the blog for the last week or so. Last week was a busy one with little Peach getting the pin cushion treatment at the doctor's office. Good news is that all tests are normal, and the doc thinks she's in great health... just need to put a little more weight on. I don't think this will be a problem as she now shovels down the food as fast as we can feed it to her.
Colin has been doing well... 8lbs 2oz and climbing. The family walked to town today. It's not far, about 20 mins. at a casual pace. We've had typical San Fran summer weather this week... cold and foggy, hence the family donned the fleece for the jaunt.
Peach is also working on standing on her own.
